The graduate course of civil engineering is fully committed to educating graduate students to become well-disciplined engineers, practitioners and researchers who endeavor to engage in planning, designing, constructing and maintaining the important infrastructures necessary for our society, including roads, railways, dams, energy supply facilities, information and communications facilities, water supply and sewage facilities, ports and airports. It is also important to engage in reducing the risks of natural disasters that strike our society more often than ever.

Our greatest mission is, therefore, to send out graduate students who have basic technical skills and who continue to develop their capabilities. The graduate course curriculum relies fully on its undergraduate scheme of academic areas, consisting of structural engineering, hydraulics and hydro-climatology, geotechnical engineering, concrete engineering, environmental engineering and transportation planning and remote sensing. Graduate students are enrolled in the advanced levels of academic areas associated with their supervising professors. They are required to complete several classes associated with their academic areas, as well as some other classes of different disciplines in civil engineering and liberal arts. They are also required to conduct research, submit graduate theses, and undergo oral examinations on specific topics.
