An Environment of Collaborative Freedom that Inspires New Ideas and Ways of Thinking

The use of information technology, including computer science, data science, information mathematics, and systems engineering, is indispensable to all fields of research. Further development of information technology requires the mobilization of knowledge from a wide range of information-related fields, from hardware to software, and from theory to implementation and operation. It is also crucial not only to deepen individual fields but also to broadly connect with other fields, using cross-disciplinary knowledge in information-related fields as a channel for the creation of innovative value.

The Faculty of Information Science and Technology fosters an environment of collaborative freedom that inspires new ideas and ways of thinking. It seeks to accelerate the rapidly developing field of information science, while also collaborating broadly with cutting-edge fields in other disciplines to disseminate true innovation and groundbreaking technologies to the world.

Message from the Dean

A New Faculty Focused on Cultivating Both Information Technology Specialists and Cross-Disciplinary "Integrators"

In modern society, the application of information technology is indispensable in all research and industrial fields. Recognizing this, in April 2026, Tokyo University of Science merged its information-related areas to establish the Faculty of Information Science and Technology, creating an environment of educational and research freedom that fosters innovation. The aim is to cultivate specialists who use cutting-edge information science and technology to pioneer new fields of study; "integrators" who form connections with other, diverse academic fields to create value for society; and hybrid personnel who fall somewhere in between.

Our faculty consists of two tracks crucial to information technology: "Computing (Track C)" and "Data Analysis and Management (Track D)," along with four courses. Students can choose one of these from their second year, based on their interests and the field they wish to study. In addition to faculty members with outstanding research achievements, our diverse faculty includes leading engineers active in companies and research institutions and experts in bioinformatics and disaster prevention. Furthermore, through a “Research Group” curriculum available from the first year, students can engage in collaborative research organized by faculty members with leading companies, or they can take the lead in projects such as the social implementation of information-related services and projects aimed at entrepreneurship.

Our goal is to send out into society information technology professionals who are able to leverage university as a tool which enables them to proactively forge their own life paths. We eagerly welcome those who bring with them bold ambitions grounded in a personally held sense of values and issue awareness.
