About the Nihon-Ryugaku Awards

The Nihon-Ryugaku Awards were established in 2012 by the Academic Research Conference on Japanese Language Schools of the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education for the purpose of developing infrastructure facilitating the intake of international students.
These awards are given to universities and vocational schools chosen through open voting by Japanese language school academic advisors and faculty members as their recommended choices for international students. In 2023, a total of 326 votes were received from 110 Japanese language schools across Japan, with 50 schools being selected for the upper echelon of the awards, and the top 10 schools selected from the East and West regions in each category being selected for, and awarded, the grand prizes in their respective categories.
