TUS Initiatives Selected for THE Awards Asia 2020 Shortlist

Initiatives undertaken by the Tokyo University of Science (TUS) have been shortlisted for selection by THE Awards Asia 2020.

Established in 2019 by UK-based Times Higher Education (THE), THE Awards Asia exists to recognize the best practices (BP) being implemented by universities in Asia. TUS initiatives have made the awards shortlist in both 2019 and 2020 and, in fact, are shortlisted in two different categories in 2020.

The following are the categories for which TUS has been shortlisted.

[Student Recruit Campaign]
Category Description
This category is focused on unconventional and innovative student recruitment campaigns. A key consideration is how a university has strengthened its brand in order to secure more mature age students, international students and other, less-represented students demographics.

Shortlisted Initiative
TUS outreach aimed at working adults, elementary and middle school students and female students (includes a long-term study system, lectures for elementary and middle school students, the "Madonna of Science" initiative, etc.)

[Technological Innovation]
Category Description
This category is focused on initiatives which have incorporated technology at any level, be that institutional, departmental or faculty level, to achieve better productivity and cost reduction.

Shortlisted Initiative
Visualization of learning outcomes by Gakushu Portfolio and development of VRE* for improvement of international competitiveness in research
*VRE: Virtual Research Environment

Announcement of the winning shortlisted projects for THE Awards Asia 2020 is scheduled for November of this year.
