Officials from the University of California, Irvine (UCI) visited the Tokyo University of Science (TUS) on May 14 (TUE), 2019.
In AY2018, TUS launched its "Los Angeles Program" as one of the university's summer foreign language training programs. Initially, Ten TUS students participated in this new program. Director Watanabe of the Center for Promotion of Internationalization and others met with the visiting officials on May 14. Program content for this fiscal year was confirmed and meaningful opinions about conditions at each university were exchanged.
The University of California is well respected among public universities in the US and the Irvine campus is regularly ranked among the top schools. The diversity of the student body is impressive with 40% of the students speaking a language other than English at home.
This visit is expected to help further develop exchanges between the two universities.
