On December 9, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) located in Pathum Thani Province, Thailand
held a ceremony commemorating the 50th year since the Japanese government began cooperating
with the institution.
Tokyo University of Science (TUS) Vice President Dr. Chiaki Mukai was invited to attend this ceremony
and gave a commemorative lecture entitled "21st Century Education: Pursuing Diversity" followed by
Q&A session with AIT students.
On this occasion, AIT President Dr. Eden Woon and TUS Vice President Dr. Mukai signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the two schools. Japan Ambassador to Thailand, Shiro Sadoshima, attended the signing ceremony as a witness.
The same evening Dr. Mukai attended a seminar for Japanese women working in Bangkok held at the Japanese ambassador's residence in Thailand. This seminar was one of the seminars held by the embassy for Japanese women in Thailand. Dr. Mukai participated in a panel discussion with Ms. Tomoko Nishimoto, the Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific of the International Labour Organization. Dr. Mukai and Ms. Nishimoto answered a variety of questions from the audience.
Although the embassy had assumed around 100 people would attend this event, the audience exceeded 120 people. The evening ended amid a very lively atmosphere.
