Established in academic year 2017 with the help of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Private University Research Branding Project, the Space Colony Research Center integrates Tokyo University of Science's technological expertise in satellite components, functional materials, energy creation, construction, IoT, sensors and more into a single base for researching and developing technology essential to long-term human habitation within the totally closed environments that are indispensable to humanity's exploration of new frontiers in space and elsewhere.
