Research Institute for Biomedical Science, Center for Animal Disease Models Hosts International Symposium (July 21, Report on Symposium)

On July 21 (Tuesday), International Symposium was held by the Center for Animal Disease Models (Center Director: Professor Yoichiro Iwakura) in the Research Institute for Biomedical Science at the Gakushikaikan (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), with participation from approximately 170 people both within and outside of the university.

This Symposium came to be hosted with the support of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, as the Research Institute for Biomedical Science's "Cross-Regional Disease Models Research Center that Aims to Overcome Diseases " was adopted as a Strategic Research Foundation Grant-aided Project for Private Universities in 2013.

The Symposium opened with greetings by the Tokyo University of Science's President Akira Fujishima, as well as by the Research Institute of Biomedical Science's Director Ryo Abe. Lectures were held by distinguished researchers from both Japan and overseas, and closed successfully with continued participation by many people in a social event that was held after the Symposium.
