Tokyo University of Science Professors Selected by Thomson Reuters as Globally Influential "Highly Cited Researchers"

Tokyo University of Science Professor Yoichiro Iwakura (Research Institute for Biomedical Sciences, Experimental Animal Immunology Division) and Associate Professor Shinji Tsujikawa (Department of Physics, Faculty of Science) were selected as "highly cited researchers" conducting globally influential research by Thomson Reuters. Specifically, according to Thomson Reuters' research citation data for the past 11 years, their papers ranked in the top 1% in their respective research fields in terms of total citations.

Thomson Reuters' selection method is as follows:
• Prepare a list of "Highly Cited Papers" defined as those that rank in the top 1% by citations for 21 research categories (natural science and social science fields). From this list, a list of researchers for which citations of their works exceeded a certain number was created.
• This final list contains some 3,200 researchers. 100 of these researchers are affiliated with Japanese research institutions. Professor Iwakura is one of 87 highly cited researchers in the Immunology field and Associate Professor Tsujikawa is one of the 144 selected researchers the Physics field.
