Tokyo University of Science Member Elected as One of 35 People for Franklin Pierce Law Center in the US

The Franklin Pierce Law Center (New Hampshire), which is recognized as being one of the United State's best law schools with excellent intellectual property education, was founded in 1973 and celebrated its 35th anniversary this year. To commemorate this occasion, the Franklin Pierce Law Center elected 35 representatives from among its active alumni, and Associate Professor Mitsuyoshi Hiratsuka of Master of Intellectual Property (MIP) in the Tokyo University of Science's Graduate School of Management of Science and Technology was selected as one of these 35 people.

The Franklin Pierce Law Center is deemed an internationally-representative educational institution for intellectual property where people involved in intellectual property gather from all around the world, and is the first law school in the world to establish an MIP (Master of Intellectual Property) course. Even now, human resources from Japanese companies and the Patent Office are dispatched to this law school, and are working hard together alongside other people involved in intellectual property from all over the world.

The Tokyo University of Science's MIP also has favorable relations with the Franklin Pierce Law Center, and from 2005 to 2007, Professor William O. Hennessy from the law school held an intensive summer course at the university.

Associate Professor Hiratsuka graduated from the Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1999, gained experience by working at a patent office as well as at the Tokyo University of Science as a Intellectual Property Manager in the Intellectual Property Division, and is currently in charge of courses relating to patent application practices in the United States and special theory on electricity patents in MIP, as well as those relating to survey of intellectual property in the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Industrial Science and Technology.
