Conclusion of an academic exchange agreement with the University of California, Santa Barbara (US)

On March 13, 2006, the Tokyo University of Science entered into an academic exchange agreement with the University of California, Santa Barbara, of the United States.UCSB was established in 1909 and integrated into the University of California system in 1944. It has student body of approximately 20,500 and a faculty of some 950, and is comprised of a college of letters and science, college of engineering, college of creative studies, school of environmental science and management, and Graduate School of education. With three Nobel Prize winners and Professor Shuji Nakamura (special advisor) on its staff, UCSB boasts an impressive faculty that ranks among the best in the United States.Through this agreement, TUS and UCSB will engage in academic exchange by:

1) Exchanging researchers (professors, assistant professors, lecturers, and research fellows) to participate in meetings, symposia, research projects, and lectures;
2) Pursuing joint research projects; and
3) Sharing research information and regularly exchanging publications in fields of interest to both institutions.
