Introduction

The Department of Biological Science and Technology performs research and education in the various fields of fundamental biological science as well as engineered research and education for the industrial application of research results, while being a pioneer in cutting-edge biotechnology. Research, development for diagnosis and treatment of cancer, regenerative medicine, development of fundamental technological necessities for the development of regenerative medicine, and life-science technology development for the formation of a sustainable society is being actively promoted.

  • Education and research is thorough in subjects such as molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology and bioorganic chemistry, which serve as the fundamentals for life sciences.
  • At the same time, research and education is thorough in the new academic field of biotechnology including areas such as biogenetics, regenerative medicine engineering, tissue engineering, cell engineering and immunoengineering.
  • Aim to cultivate human resources with creativity and leadership skills who can contribute to resolving various problems that humans are faced with, from a broad and wide-ranging perspective, from solid fundamental knowledge to industrial application of life science technology.
