| 研究・技術内容 | The purpose of my research is to understand the process of change and renewal of English Language curriculum at Tokyo University of Science. My research intends to inform the field of English Language Teaching in universities in Japan as these universities are 1) going through rapid changes in response to economic globalisation and 2) responding to the internationalisation of universities both in Asia and further afield. |
| 産業への利用 | In this time of growing economic globalisation, the up and coming Japanese workforce will need to be fully aware that not only knowledge of English is important but also is how to use it in order to get something done. To achieve this goal, graduating students will need to be flexible and critical thinkers. Moreover, they will need to be able to not only give a good presentation about scientific knowledge but also to field questions about it and to "network" in the reception when the event has finished. This is the type of graduating student that will be a help to international industry. |

| 具体的な産学連携形態内容 | I would be happy to make contact with business and industry leaders in order to find out the type of English needed in the workplace both now and in the future. |

| 所有研究装置 | Although I do not use any scientific equipment, I do make use of a corpus of 55 million words in order to help students learn the difference between their sentence structure and how a native-speaker might say it. This "noticing" is the good step in the process of becoming more easily understood in the international scientific arena. |
