On November 27 (Wed), 2019, forty Chinese high school student participants in the SAKURA SCIENCE Exchange Program (Sakura Science Plan) sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology (JST) Agency spent the day at Tokyo University of Science's (TUS) Kagurazaka Campus.

The Director of the Center for Promotion of Internationalization delivered a welcome address to the students upon their arrival in the morning.

Afterward, Professor Jin Akiyama, a specially appointed TUS Vice President and Director of the Research Center for Math and Science Education, gave a lecture on mathematics to the students, impressing upon them a sense of the magical wonders to be found within the world of math.

The participants then spent lunch with some of the Chinese international students currently enrolled at TUS, after which they attended and eagerly listened to a presentation about TUS given by the manager of the International Division.

In the afternoon, the students toured the TUS Mathematical Experience Plaza, taking full advantage of the hands-on math education opportunities it affords by exploring the Plaza's numerous exhibits and actively asking about its content.

It was a long day that stretched from morning to evening, but at no point in the jam-packed schedule did the student participants' keen interest ever flag, and when they finally departed TUS, it was with smiles on their faces.
