Conclusion of an academic exchange agreement with the University of Jaen (Spain)

On October 3, 2007, the Tokyo University of Science and the University of Jaen of Spain signed an academic exchange agreement.

Based on this agreement, both institutions will promote a collaborative relationship through the following activities:
- Instructor exchanges
- Student exchanges
- Planning and implementation of academic cooperation
- Exchange of academic information and publications
- Promotion of other academic activities

No. of faculties: The university has 6 faculties and 32 departments: The Faculty of Experimental Science, Faculty of Social Science and Law, Faculty of Human Education, Faculty of Advanced Technology and Engineering, Faculty of Nursing, and Faculty of Social Welfare. Departments having relevance to TUS are those dealing with Experimental Biology; Economics; Computer Science; Electrical Engineering; Telecommunications Engineering; Mechanical and Mine Engineering; Chemical, Environmental, and Material Engineering; Physics; Mathematics; Statistics and Operative Research; Physical and Analytical Chemistry; and Organic and Inorganic Chemistry.

- Although the university's history as an educational institution can be traced back to the 14th century, its legal establishment as a public university under the name Universidad de Jaen came in 1993. It forms the Andalusia University System together with the University of Granada, University of Cordoba, University of Cadiz, University of Seville, and others.
- Although the University of Jaen has concluded agreements with over 150 universities in Europe, including those in France, Germany, Italy, and Portugal, this marks the first time it has entered into an academic exchange agreement with a Japanese university.
