Tokyo University of Science, Yamaguchi

Kiyoo Nakamura, born in Hagi city, Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1881, was a pupil of Shoin Yoshida. Together with a group of supporters, he established the Tokyo Butsurigaku Koshujo (Tokyo Academy of Physics), forerunner of the Tokyo University of Science. In 1995, some 114 years later, the Tokyo University of Science, Yamaguchi was opened as a public-private partnership in Yamaguchi Prefecture which could be called the birthplace of the Tokyo University of Science. The university’s educational principles are to contribute to the local community through science and technology, and develop human resources who will become key players in local industry.

Tokyo University of Science, Suwa
