About the Areas of Study Physics
Physics continues to develop in ways that incorporate all academic fields. It is a field of research that forms the basis for science and technology. The Physics graduate program engages in research and education that range from theories and experiments in nuclei, particles, and space to concepts and experiments in condensed matter physics; e.g., magnetism, high-temperature superconductivity, semiconductors, solid surfaces, crystals, and disordered systems. The program's scope also extends to quantum electronics, nonlinear optics, and other areas of applied physics. Moreover, the department is participating in the ''Program of Cooperation'' while fostering cooperation with a broad range of national research institutes and expanding the foci of research activity.
