About the Areas of Study Mechanical Engineering
This program is made up of the following specialties: Mechanics of Materials, Materials Science, Fluid Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Dynamics of Machinery, Design Engineering, and Process Engineering. Research conducted within the program takes directions that are both progressive and multifaceted, including:
Investigation of destructive mechanisms from mesoscopic perspectives and application  of computer simulations toward this end
Study of high-speed meteor impacts on space shuttles and damage profiles for next- generation composite materials for aircraft
Fluid dynamics of particles, droplets, and bubbles toward resolution of environmental  issues
 Simulation of turbulence using supercomputers
Thermal fluid dynamics under microgravity conditions for experiments on space stations
Research and development of energy-saving equipment
Micromechanical engineering and heat engineering with a view to application in medical  care and living organisms
In-process sensing in process engineering toward realization of various types of  machinery and devices; studies of control, processing robots, vibration suppression, and  ultraprecise surfaces
